Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins believes that it would be difficult for Tottenham to turn down a reported £35m bid for winger Gareth Bale.
Reports emerged last night claiming that the Champions League winners were considering a big-money move for the Premier League star.
While the Wales international has been open about his commitment to Spurs, Wilkins believes that the lure of the Spanish giants could turn his head.
"When someone like Barcelona sits up and takes notice it makes you realise that you are playing some good football, and Gareth Bale is playing some extraordinary stuff," Wilkins told talkSPORT.
"Coughing up £35m is a lot of money. In the January transfer window it will be very interesting to see if Tottenham can turn that down as it is an extreme amount of money.
"Barcelona are the best footballing team on the planet but would Gareth Bale be going there to play league football or Champions League football? That's the question."
The 22-year-old was linked with a transfer to Italian outfit Intern Milan during the summer.
