Roberto Soldado scored from the penalty spot as Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw by Espanyol in their pre-season friendly at White Hart Lane this evening.

The Spaniard - making his first appearance since a £26m move from Valencia - opened his account for the North Londoners after Danny Rose had been brought down by Juan Rafael Fuentes.

However, Javi Lopez's powerful header squared the game just before the break.

Younes Kaboul made his first appearance since last August when he replaced Zeki Fryers at half time and nearly got his name on the scoresheet, but Kiko Casilla was equal to his header.

Andros Townsend went close in the 78th minute but his low drive whistled past the post.
