Mauricio Pochettino slams slow Tottenham Hotspur start at Leicester City

Mauricio Pochettino is disappointed with his Tottenham Hotspur players for a slow start in their 2-1 Premier League defeat at Leicester City.

Mauricio Pochettino has criticised his Tottenham Hotspur players for a slow start in their Premier League encounter at Leicester City, which finished 2-1 to the Foxes.

Spurs fell behind for the fourth match in a row when Jamie Vardy chipped the ball over Hugo Lloris on 13 minutes and Riyad Mahrez doubled the hosts' lead just before the break.

Although Harry Kane pulled a goal back late on for the visitors, it proved a mere consolation as Pochettino's side suffered a third defeat in five league games.

"We did not play in the way we normally play," Pochettino told BBC Sport. "The first half was a poor performance and it was difficult after that to get back into the game.

"We feel very disappointed in our performance. We started the game not in the right way and we conceded the opportunity to them to score.

"At 2-0 down it is difficult. We need to improve the way we start. It happened against West Brom and Borussia Dortmund."

The result leaves Tottenham 13 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, who play their 14th fixture of the campaign on Wednesday night.
