Former Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Gary Lineker has described Andros Townsend's ankle injury as a "real shame".
Spurs confirmed on Wednesday that the 22-year-old would be out of action for around 10 weeks following surgery.
Townsend was in contention to be part of the England squad for this summer's World Cup, but the youngster will now be forced to miss the tournament in Brazil.
Real shame @andros_townsend has been so afflicted with injury lately, and now is ruled out of the WC. Played a big part in getting us there.
