Tottenham Hotspur assistant boss Stefan Freund insists that Steven Caulker is good enough to play for England.

Tottenham Hotspur assistant boss Stefan Freund believes that Steven Caulker has the ability to replace John Terry in the England team.

Chelsea skipper Terry announced his retirement from international football on Sunday, seemingly opening up a spot in Roy Hodgson's defence.

Freund told reporters: "He is similar [to Terry]. He has already been called up for the national side and he's definitely one of best centre-halves in England.

"He is like a rock in the defence, he's very tall and strong, and is difficult to beat in a one-on-one situation. He's very talented and wants to improve every game."

Caulker is yet to play for England.
