Frank de Boer: 'I was honest when talking about Tottenham Hotspur job'

Ajax boss Frank de Boer insists that he was "honest" when he claimed that he would speak to Tottenham Hotspur about an offer to become their new manager.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer has insisted that he has been completely honest when discussing a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

In an interview with NOS, the Dutchman revealed that he will listen to an offer from Spurs, who are expected to replace Tim Sherwood at the end of the season.

However, the North London outfit responded with a statement on Wednesday insisting that they had not made any official approaches to managers.

When asked by Algemeen Dagblad if he regretted talking publicly about Spurs, De Boer is quoted as saying: "No. Why? I was interviewed by the NOS and I gave an honest answer.

"There had been plenty of rumors about the interest from Tottenham. I thought about [talking publicly about it] for a few seconds, but I decided to talk openly."

De Boer, who led Ajax to their fourth consecutive Eredivisie title this season, originally claimed that he would consider holding talks with Spurs once the Dutch season ends this weekend.
