Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that his team is not equipped to mount a Premier League title challenge this season.
The North London outfit have been tipped by some to test the top spots following the arrival of seven new signings for around £100m at White Hart Lane, but Villas-Boas has claimed that he is only thinking about securing fourth.
"Our objective is the same, it's Champions League qualification," Villas-Boas said in a press conference. "Our level of expenditure in the transfer market raises expectations but they have to be real expectations, not false expectations.
"We don't have the experience to deal with the pressure of a team that plays for the title. We have never done it, you know, in these recent years and we will compete as usual for Champions League places."
Spurs, who sold Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a reported £85m this summer, will take on Norwich City this weekend.
