Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli insists that he is his "own biggest critic" and is eager to rediscover his form and confidence.

Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has described himself as his "own biggest critic" and is eager to rediscover his form and confidence following a mediocre start to the season.

Despite impressing in his two Champions League appearances, the midfielder has yet to hit the heights of his last two Premier League campaigns in the current term.

Alli missed the first three Group H games through suspension but is set to start for Spurs in Wednesday's match against APOEL, with the North Londoners already assured of top spot in the group.

"I think I am my own biggest critic," the 21-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying. "Every time I know when I'm not playing well and if it's not going well for me, it's important that I keep working hard and trying every day to learn and improve as a player.

"Obviously I would like to be at my highest level in every single game and every training session but I don't think that's possible. So I think it's been a good opportunity for me to learn more about myself as a player and as a person, so I'm looking forward to it and I've got to keep enjoying it."

Alli has scored seven goals and registered four assists for Spurs in 18 appearances in all competitions this season.
