Andre Villas-Boas is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will cope when Emmanuel Adebayor joins the Togo squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that the club will be able to cope when striker Emmanuel Adebayor leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations later this month.

The club announced yesterday that the Togolese international would be part of the 23-man squad for the tournament in South Africa.

Adebayor, however, has said that Spurs will be able to cope without the 28-year-old as they did when he was injured.

"We've been happy with the team - we've been in this situation before when Ade was injured and I think we are able to cope with it," BBC Sport quotes Villas-Boas as saying.

Adebayor has scored three goals in 17 Tottenham appearances this season.
