Sporting Lisbon score five to move into second spot in Primeira Liga

Sporting Lisbon score five, including a hat-trick for Islam Slimani, to move into second spot in Primeira Liga.

Islam Slimani's hat-trick has ensured that Sporting Lisbon climbed into second place in the Primeira Liga after they eased past Vitoria de Guimaraes with a resounding 5-1 victory at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Lisbon moved into the lead after just 11 minutes when Slimani finished without question, before Teofilo Gutierrez made it 2-0 to the hosts just over 10 minutes later.

The away side were dealt a major blow in the second half when Bakary Sare saw red for a reckless challenge, leaving home striker Slimani to force in a second after some inventive play from Jefferson.

The goals did not stop there, however, given that Adrien Silva added Sporting's fourth in the 60th minute, as the hosts looked to cement an important win on week seven.

Slimani made the most of his side's numerical advantage to bag a hat-trick with just over 10 minutes remaining, although Vitoria were able to claim what proved to be a mere consolation through Josue Sa moments later to leave the final score at 5-1.
