Spanish midfielder David Silva has claimed that Thursday's 4-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2012 has helped the side regain their confidence.
The defending champions came under heavy criticism following a 1-1 draw with Italy in their opening match of Group C.
Their convincing victory, which saw Silva net his first goal of the tournament, has now put Spain on the verge of the quarter-finals.
"After 1-1 versus Italy there was plenty of comments," he told reporters.
"This result against Ireland is very good for us in terms of morale and confidence."
Vicente del Bosque's team now need to avoid defeat against Croatia in their final game on Monday to book their place in the last eight.
