Spain forward Alvaro Negredo believes that France are a better team than England.

Spain forward Alvaro Negredo has suggested that his side would rather face England than France in the quarter-finals of Euro 2012.

The reigning world and European champions can guarantee first place in Group C with victory over Croatia in Gdansk tomorrow night.

If they achieve that feat then the runners-up in Group D - which could be France, England or Ukraine - will provide the opposition for Vicente del Bosque's men in the last eight.

"France are slightly stronger than England and have more quality," Negredo told the Daily Mail. "But in order to reach the final, Spain has to beat any team it comes up against."

Negredo, who has 10 caps and six international goals to his name, has yet to feature in this summer's championships.
