Free agent David Worrall has joined Southend United on a two-year deal.
The winger, 24, had been without a club after being released by Rotherham United earlier this week.
Worrall spent the second half of last season on loan at Oldham Athletic.
"I'm absolutely thrilled that we have completed the signing of such a highly-rated winger in David Worrall – he'll bring a huge amount to this football club," manager Phil Brown told Southend's official website.
"We identified him early on this pre-season as a target and someone we thought would really help our promotion push next season, but we knew there was lots of interest."
Southend get their League Two campaign up and running with a trip to Accrington Stanley on August 9.
