Ralph Hasenhuttl has not ruled out Southampton delving into the January market for a striker, following the injuries sustained to Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja.

Southampton head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has not ruled out delving into the January transfer market for a striker following the injuries sustained to Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja last weekend.

Both Armstrong and Broja limped off with leg injuries in the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal, joining the lengthy list of first-team players on the treatment table.

Fellow centre-forward Che Adams (hamstring), midfielder Stuart Armstrong (calf) as well as goalkeepers Alex McCarthy (thigh) and Fraser Forster (muscle) are also suffering with injuries.

Speaking after their defeat at the Emirates Stadium about the severity of Armstrong and Broja's injuries, Hasenhuttl said: "We don't know yet. Hopefully not too serious. But it was not possible for them to continue.

"The signs before the game haven't been the best today and hopefully we have no more injuries now because a tough time of the season is coming."

Asked by the press if Southampton will be active in the winter window, the Austrian said: "We will look how serious it is, how long they are out and then we will look."

Southampton are now preparing for Wednesday's Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
