Ronald Koeman: 'Netherlands job not for now'

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman plays down interest in the Netherlands job, claiming that he will remain with the South Coast club for the time being.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has refuted speculation linking him to the Netherlands job, insisting that he will remain with the South Coast club for the foreseeable future.

The 2014 World Cup semi-finalists are in danger of missing out on qualification for Euro 2016 after defeats to Iceland and Turkey left them fourth in Group A.

Danny Blind replaced Guus Hiddink as manager after six matches of their qualifying campaign, but the Oranje have been left battling with Turkey for a playoff berth.

Koeman, linked with the national team job, told reporters: "It is not the best moment for the Dutch national team. We know that and of course there are always those kinds of rumours.

"Everybody knows it is part of my ambition, but in the future. Not for now. Not for next year. Maybe in the future but not at this time."

Koeman's contract at St Mary's runs until 2017.
