League One side Shrewsbury Town will play Turkish giants Galatasaray in a pre-season friendly in July.

League One club Shrewsbury Town will host Champions League quarter-finalists Galatasaray in a pre-season friendly in July.

The Shropshire-based outfit will welcome the Turkish side to the Greenhous Meadow on July 13, and club secretary Jayne Bebb revealed that they were hoping to give their supporters "something special" ahead of the new season.

Bebb told the club's official website: "We were looking for something special for the team and supporters to experience this pre-season.

"After a lot of behind-the-scenes negotiation, we have landed this attractive fixture against the Champions League quarter-finalists of last season."

Galatasaray could field the likes of Didier Drogba, Wesley Sneijder and Emmanuel Eboue.
