Sheffield Wednesday tie up Jose Semedo with new contract

Portuguese defender Jose Semedo commits himself to a fifth season with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday by signing a new one-year deal.

Jose Semedo has agreed a new one-year contract with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Next season will be the defender's fifth in blue and white after he joined on a free transfer from Charlton Athletic in 2011.

The 30-year-old told the club website that he wanted to finish his career as an Owl.

"This is my home, this is my club," he said. "It's a dream come true and I would like to finish my career with Sheffield Wednesday."

The South Yorkshire outfit have lost head coach Stuart Gray under the reign of new owner Dejphon Chansiri, and Semedo also commented on the shake-up.

"There have been some changes over the summer but I know our supporters will be totally behind the whole team we have in place for next season," the Portuguese added.

"You see, these are very special supporters. We are all as one at Sheffield Wednesday, today and tomorrow, which is why I love to be at this club."

In total, Semedo has made 140 appearances for Wednesday.
