Adil Rami ruled out "for approximately six weeks"

Sevilla defender Adil Rami is expected to miss the next six weeks of the season after suffering a groin injury during a training session on Tuesday.

Sevilla have been hit with the news that summer signing Adil Rami will miss "approximately six weeks" with a groin problem.

The 29-year-old, who moved to Estadio Ramon from AC Milan this summer, had started both of the Spanish club's La Liga fixtures in the new campaign.

However, the Frenchman is now expected to be out of action until the end of October.

"Adil Rami suffered a tear in his left adductor muscle in training yesterday. The injury will keep the player off the field for approximately six weeks, according to the Sevilla medical team," read a statement on Sevilla's official website.

The central defender could miss as many as eight official games for Sevilla, including Champions League group matches against Borussia Monchengladbach and Juventus.
