MK Dons missed the chance to go top of League One as Scunthorpe United secured a 1-1 draw at Glanford Park this evening.
Scunthorpe dominated possession throughout the early stages, but the visitors would improve as the first half progressed and they came close to breaking the deadlock when a curling effort from Jonson Clarke-Harris was pushed away by Luke Daniels.
The Dons continued to press for an opening goal, with the lively Dele Alli almost capitalising on space in the box with a header which came back off the post.
Daniels, making his debut for Scunthorpe, made another vital contribution to keep his new side on level terms with a fine save from Alli before the break.
Scunthorpe were rewarded for keeping out the visitors when they took the lead 17 minutes into the second half through Tom Hopper, who took advantage of space in the box to fire home after the Dons failed to deal with a long ball forward.
Paddy Madden should have doubled his side's advantage shortly after, but David Martin came to his side's rescue with a fine save to deny the Irish striker.
MK Dons hit back with 14 minutes remaining when Kyle McFadzean found the space to head home a deserved equaliser from a corner after an extended spell of pressure from the away side.
