Rotherham United beat Birmingham City, move off bottom of Championship table

Rotherham United record their second successive win by beating Birmingham City 2-0 to move off the bottom of the Championship table.

Rotherham United have moved off the bottom of the Championship table thanks to a 2-0 victory away to Birmingham City.

Rotherham took the lead through a 32nd-minute Matt Derbyshire effort following a sustained period of pressure from Steve Evans' side.

The former Birmingham striker, who clashed with Stephen Gleeson just before half time, volleyed in a back-post effort from Joe Newell's cross.

The Millers doubled their lead in the 64th minute through the boot of on-loan Norwich City midfielder Tony Andreu, who fired a shot past Tomas Kuszczak into the top corner after a mishit Michael Morrison backpass.

Rotherham, who continued to create chances, almost saw Andreu record a brace as he fired narrowly over from a Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe pass.

Morrison attempted to make up for his mistake but his far-post effort was blocked in the box by Odjidja-Ofoe.

The visitors have moved into 20th spot while Gary Rowett's side fall to 9th.
