Ajaccio are on the brink of survival in Ligue 1 after drawing with Rennes.

Ajaccio are all but safe from relegation from Ligue 1 after a 1-1 draw with Rennes.

Fousseni Diawara gave the strugglers an early lead before Mevlut Erding found an equaliser for the hosts just before half time.

The visitors made the perfect start when they took the lead in the sixth minute. Benjamin Andre played in Diawara, who put the ball in the top corner from close range.

Rennes nearly found an equaliser with 18 minutes gone, but Erding's header from Julien Feret's corner flew just past the top corner.

Ajaccio came close to doubling their lead just before half time, but Benoit Costil denied Adrian Mutu and Johan Cavalli in the space of three minutes.

However, Rennes found an equaliser in stoppage time at the end of the half when Steven Moreira's cross was headed in by Erding.

Mutu nearly put Ajaccio back in front with 33 minutes left to play, but Costil was able to thwart his strike across goal.
