Report: Aston Villa launch Sergio Canales bid

Aston Villa have reportedly made an offer for Real Sociedad attacker Sergio Canales.

The 23-year-old was once regarded as one of the best talents in Spanish football, but his time at Real Madrid was dogged by injury and he later moved to Valencia.

Canales joined his current side Sociedad in January of this year and has started the season in impressive fashion, helping the Basque side beat Real Madrid 4-2 on Sunday evening.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Villa have tested Sociedad's resolve with a bid for the Spanish youth international.

Canales started his professional career with Racing Santander.
