Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has said that the conversation that led to David Moyes losing his job at the Basque club "ended with a handshake".
It had been claimed that Moyes was furious with his dismissal from the Spanish club, with reports on Sunday seeming to confirm the Scot's departure before he heard about it himself.
Aperribay, however, has insisted that Moyes's parting with the club was amicable, while also playing down suggestions that a player revolt led to the decision to sack the former Manchester United manager.
"I want to thank David Moyes for his work over the past 12 months. He did his best for the club," Aperribay told reporters.
"I had a long conversation with Moyes and it ended with a handshake. Never has a player called me to speak about the coach."
Former Barcelona B boss Eusebio Sacristan has been appointed as Sociedad's new first-team coach.
