Sergio Ramos quells departure rumours

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos denies that he wants to leave the club.

Spanish defender Sergio Ramos has insisted that he is "not looking to leave" Real Madrid.

The experienced centre-back has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital after reports suggested that he had fallen out with the club's president Florentino Perez.

However, the World Cup winner has claimed that he would "retire" at the Bernabeu given the choice.

Ramos told AS: "I'll repeat, our differences were nothing to do with the contract. I've got three years here and I'm relaxed and I'm not looking to leave. I feel privileged and if I could, I would retire here.

"I'm not going to talk about the differences between us because it's a personal matter, but I can say we have a great relationship. I'll never forget who the president here is and I know he's in charge."

A number of European clubs are believed to be monitoring proceedings.
