Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is reportedly in line to sign a new contract complete with a release clause of €1 billion (£900m).
The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal but has been the subject of speculation that he could move to Arsenal next year rather than extend his stay in the Spanish capital.
According to French publication Le Journal du Dimanche, Madrid have no intention of letting Benzema leave and are hopeful of agreeing a new long-term deal before the end of the month.
The newspaper also claims that the Frenchman rejected an offer from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian in January that would have seen him earn £45m a year in wages.
Benzema has been with Madrid since 2009, during which time he has won three Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles and two Copas del Rey.
