Lionel Messi says that Barcelona are not after "revenge" when they face Real Madrid on Sunday.

Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has insisted that the Catalans are not after "revenge" when they face Real Madrid on Sunday.

Barcelona were defeated over two legs by Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup in August, while they lost 2-1 in April as Madrid claimed last season's league title.

"The team has no desire for revenge, we just want to win," Messi told reporters.

Barcelona currently sit top of La Liga with 18 points from six games.
