Reading boss Nigel Adkins: "It's in our destiny"

Nigel Adkins is pleased that Reading were able to keep their chances of reaching the Championship playoffs in their own hands by holding Leicester City to a 1-1 draw.

Manager Nigel Adkins was pleased that Reading were able to keep their chances of reaching the playoffs in their own hands by holding Championship leaders Leicester City to a 1-1 draw on Monday night.

The result, which came courtesy of first-half goals from Alex Pearce and Danny Drinkwater, moved the Royals back up to sixth in the table, but only above Brighton & Hove Albion and Ipswich Town on goal difference with four regular-season games remaining.

"We've got a point to put us back in the playoffs; four games to go and it's in our destiny which is important," Adkins told Sky Sports News. "We should have had a penalty, but we've had to dig in at the end and show some grit to get ourselves over the line and get a point.

"But all in all we have played against a team that will be worthy champions of the division and they are going to the Premier League and they were up for it and I thought we were up for it as well.

"We keep going and we are in there and we are battling and we have still got a chance."

Reading's last four games see them visit Wigan Athletic and Doncaster Rovers, as well as facing Middlesbrough and Burnley at home.
