Rangers beat 10-man Dunfermline Athletic

Rangers seal a 2-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic at Ibrox in Scottish League One.

Rangers scored late in both halves to secure a 2-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic in Scottish League One at Ibrox this afternoon.

The home side were given a guard of honour as they headed out for this afternoon's game to mark them sealing the division title earlier this week.

The visitors created a string of early chances with Stephen Husband's low strike forcing a save from Cammy Bell.

Andy Geggan almost put Dunfermline in front shortly before half time when he tried to head in from a corner, but his effort was fractionally high.

The miss proved costly when Rangers won a free kick down the other end just a couple of minutes later, allowing Steven Smith to curl the ball in and put the home side ahead at the break.

Lee McCulloch and Fraser Aird both pushed for a second Rangers goal early in the second half, but Dunfermline's tight defence continued to get the better of the hosts.

However, the visitors had to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men after Danny Grainger was booked for the second time after bringing down Rangers youth player Calum Gallagher just outside the penalty area.

Gallagher had a chance to double the home side's lead when he collected the ball from Nicky Clark, but he could not control it.

However, he made amends for his miss in stoppage time after Ian Black surged forward before playing it through for Gallagher, who calmly slotted it in to put the win beyond doubt.
