Half-Time Report: Steven Smith puts Rangers ahead

A late first-half goal from Steven Smith gives Rangers a 1-0 lead over Dunfermline Athletic in Scottish League One.

A late goal from Steven Smith has given Rangers a 1-0 lead over Dunfermline Athletic at Ibrox this afternoon.

The home side were given a guard of honour ahead of kickoff at Ibrox to mark them sealing the Scottish League One title earlier this week.

The visitors were forced to change their keeper after less than four minutes after Ryan Sully picked up an injury while saving an early effort from the champions, bringing Ryan Goodfellow off the bench.

Stephen Husband tried to break the deadlock for Dunfermline with a low strike from the edge of the box, but Cammy Bell was able to hold on to it for Rangers.

Andy Geggan had a chance for the visitors just before the break after Dunfermline won a corner, but he nodded the ball just high.

Despite Dunfermline creating the majority of the good chances in the first half, a curling free kick from Smith just before the half-time whistle broke the deadlock.
