Rangers welcome police investigation into "disgraceful" Fir Park brawl

Rangers will "co-operate fully with investigations" after defender Bilel Mohsni lashed out at an opponent following the club's weekend defeat to Motherwell.

Rangers have condemned the "unacceptable" behaviour of defender Bilel Mohsni in the aftermath of Sunday's defeat against Motherwell.

The 27-year-old appeared to punch and kick opponent Lee Erwin following the 3-0 reverse at Fir Park, which ended their hopes of reaching the Scottish Premiership.

Police have been called in to investigate the incident, which resulted in three players - Mohsni, Erwin and Fraser Kerr - all being shown a red card.

"Rangers Football Club will co-operate fully with investigations following the disgraceful scenes at the Motherwell game yesterday," a club statement read.

"Bilel Mohsni's behaviour was completely unacceptable and had his contract not now expired, the club would have started disciplinary proceedings.

"The club will also assist with any investigation into the behaviour of Motherwell supporters and we would like to thank the Rangers fans who were excellent in showing admirable restraint despite severe provocation."

Mohsni's agent Gregory Dakad admitted earlier today that the Tunisian international's five-year stint in British football is likely to be over as a result of the unsavoury incident.
