Report: Queens Park Rangers closing in on Norwich City's Leroy Fer

Newly-promoted QPR are believed to be closing in on the £4.75m capture of Norwich's Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer, who only joined the Canaries last summer.

Netherlands midfielder Leroy Fer is apparently poised to leave Norwich City after only one season as Queens Park Rangers close in on his signature.

The 24-year-old, who represented Holland at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, only joined the Canaries from FC Twente 12 months ago, but could not prevent them from being relegated to the Championship.

Fer has insisted that he is happy to honour his three-year Carrow Road contract, but Dutch publication Voetbal International claims that QPR want to take him with them back to the Premier League.

The Hoops, who were promoted to the top flight via the playoffs in May, are believed to be in advanced negotiations to sign Fer for £4.75m, which is less than Norwich paid to bring him to Norfolk in 2013.

Fer scored four goals in 32 Norwich appearances last season and could be joined at Loftus Road by former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand and Ajax's Icelandic striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.
