Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp insists that the club would have no problem in recouping the money they paid for Christopher Samba if they were relegated.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he has already had enquires about defender Christopher Samba in the event that the Loftus Road outfit are relegated.

QPR signed Samba for a fee in the region of £12.5m during the January transfer window but the transfer was deemed a risk, with the Hoops currently adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table.

However, Redknapp has insisted that while he doesn't think his side will drop down to the Championship, the club would be able to get their money back for the 31-year-old if required.

Redknapp told reporters: "When people say he is a risk and you're putting the club in a difficult position if it went down, you could sell Chris Samba for what you paid or more at the end of the season if you wanted to. Without a shadow of a doubt.

"I had a chairman ring me a week ago asking me about him and saying 'what would you do if you went down?'

"I said 'we ain't going to go down' but he said 'well, we want to sign him... if we'd have known he was available'. I am talking about a big club. There will be big clubs wanting him. Big clubs, not a danger."

Samba helped his new side to a 0-0 draw with Norwich City on his debut last weekend.
