Wolverhampton Wanderers battle back from a goal down to win away at Queens Park Rangers this afternoon.

Wolverhampton Wanderers fought back from a goal down to claim all three points against Queens Park Rangers this afternoon.

It took new signing Bobby Zamora just 16 minutes to open his account for QPR. Following a move that involved Adel Taarabt, Djibril Cisse and Shaun Wright-Phillips, Zamora was on hand to send the ball past Wayne Hennessey from close range.

The half ended on a sour note for the hosts though when Cisse, making his home debut, was handed his marching orders. The French international appeared to grab Wolves defender Roger Johnson around the neck, resulting in Mark Clattenburg issuing a red card.

Wolves came out in more positive mood after the break as they looked to press home their numerical advantage.

The equalising goal arrived just two minutes in the second half courtesy of Matt Jarvis, who bent an effort beyond the reach of Paddy Kenny following a cross from substitute Kevin Doyle.

Mick McCarthy's visitors almost took the lead in the 51st minute but Steven Fletcher planted his headed effort from six yards out against the crossbar.

Wolves' pressure finally told in the 71st minute as Doyle turned goalscorer. The half-time substitute controlled the ball inside the area, before turning and shooting low past Kenny from 12 yards out.

Taarabt went closest to rescuing a point for Rangers, but Hennessey got across his goal to tip the long-range effort wide.

The victory has lifted Wolves out of the relegation zone.
