Kevin Blackwell appointed to Queens Park Rangers backroom staff

Kevin Blackwell is reunited with Neil Warnock at Queens Park Rangers, as the West London outfit continue their search for a permanent manager.

Interim Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has brought in Kevin Blackwell to assist him in the temporary role.

The 62-year-old has already suggested that he is not interested in taking on the job full time at Loftus Road, but a new boss is unlikely to be appointed anytime soon.

Blackwell has now been recruited as part of the backroom staff to provide an "extra pair of eyes", having previously worked alongside Warnock at Huddersfield Town, Plymouth Argyle, Bury and Sheffield United.

"I know how Kevin works, he is very good on the training field and will provide me with an extra pair of eyes," he told the club's official website.

"I have spoken with Les [Ferdinand] and I have to operate as the head coach - for however long that might be. When you look at the fixtures coming up, I don't think anyone will be rushing in to take over for those! We've got to embrace it, and give it our best shot."

Former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson is the favourite to take over at the West London outfit, while Alex McLeish and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are also thought to be in the running.
