Anton Ferdinand: 'Harry Redknapp forced me out of Queens Park Rangers'

Anton Ferdinand says that he did not want to leave Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window.

Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand has revealed that he did not want to leave the club in January but was forced out by Harry Redknapp.

The 28-year-old joined Turkish outfit Bursaspor during the winter transfer window after being told that he was no longer part of then-new boss Redknapp's plans for the remainder of the campaign.

While he is unhappy at being made to depart the club, Ferdinand admits that he is open to a return to Loftus Road.

"I've been playing professional football for 10 years and had never been relegated. I know what it's all about and I felt I had the right experience to give QPR," Ferdinand told The Sun. "I didn't want to go anywhere. I wanted to stay and fight.

"But the manager made it clear I wasn't in his plans and when they accepted the offer from Bursaspor I had to take it. It's great playing in Turkey but there's still nothing like being in the Premier League.

"I've been watching out for QPR's results every week. I'm still contracted to them for another season. Bursaspor have an option to buy me but if it's decided I'm needed to help QPR get back up then that's what I'll do."

Ferdinand has appeared six times for Bursaspor, losing just once, which has prompted the fans to plead with the club to make the move permanent.
