Osasuna, Real Sociedad share the points

Osasuna and Real Sociedad share the points in a 1-1 draw in La Liga.

Osasuna came from behind to secure a point in a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad on Sunday afternoon.

It took just seven minutes for the away side to open the scoring, with Gonzalo Castro converting a Carlos Vela cross from close range.

Osasuna's best chance of the first period fell to Oriol Riera after 25 minutes, but the former Barcelona forward could only rattle the crossbar with his header. Riera and Roberto Torres both had sights of goal in the latter stages of the first period, but Sociedad held on to enter the interval with a one-goal lead.

Torres again came close for the home side after 48 minutes, but the midfielder brought a smart save from Claudio Bravo in the Sociedad goal. Osasuna were level after 59 minutes when Riera headed home from close range following a deep cross from Torres.

Alberto de la Bella twice came close for Sociedad either side of the 66-minute mark, but the Spaniard could not regain his side the lead, while Osasuna also had chances of their own in an end-to-end period of the contest.

Neither could add to the scoring in the latter stages, however, with the result leaving Sociedad in sixth, while Osasuna remain in 18th spot in the table.
