Nottingham Forest are reportedly contemplating whether to make an approach for one of the most highly-rated wingers in the Championship in January.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly contemplating an approach for Burnley winger Luca Koleosho.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have enjoyed a terrific start to the new Premier League campaign, accumulating nine points from their opening five matches.

The biggest positive from that period is just the four goals conceded and a 1-0 victory away at Liverpool earlier this month.

Nevertheless, in terms of wide talent, Forest have gone to great lengths to strengthen in that area of the pitch over the past three transfer windows.

Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa are all at the disposal of Nuno, with Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White capable of being deployed there if required.

Forest eyeing more attacking talent

However, having not signed all of their desired targets for the final third in the summer, there is the expectation that Forest could be active at the turn of the year.

According to Football Insider, Forest have emerged as admirers of Burnley youngster Koleosho, who is no stranger to Premier League interest.

During the back end of August, the Clarets had to fend off the advances of Wolverhampton Wanderers in order to retain the services of the 20-year-old.

Wolves had been left encouraged by how the Italy Under-21 international had performed during his 15 outings in the Premier League last season.

Since Koleosho was kept at Turf Moor, he has continued to remain as a key player in Scott Parker's new-look squad, scoring twice in five Championship appearances.

With a contract in place until 2029, Burnley do not have to be in any rush to cash in on Koleosho at the midway point of the season, particularly with a promotion bid expected to be in full flow at that stage.

What is a likely transfer fee?

Should all add-ons be activated, Burnley will have shelled out just £3.5m on Koleosho, his valuation now several times more than that figure.

Wolves were allegedly prepared to pay in excess of £20m, highlighting the struggle other interested clubs may face in tempting Burnley into a sale.
