Nottingham Forest hammer Reading 4-0

Michail Antonio scores twice against his former club as Nottingham Forest hammer Reading 4-0 at the City Ground to climb to the top of the Championship table.

It was a day to forget for Reading as Nottingham Forest ran out impressive 4-0 winners in the Championship.

Michail Antonio tormented his former side with two goals and an assist for Matty Fryatt before Britt Assombalonga rounded off the win at the City Ground.

Forest had their opening goal on 16 minutes, and it was Chris Burke who was the architect as he planted a precise cross onto the head of Antonio to nod home.

Antonio had his second after the restart when he met another cross with a sweetly-struck volley, and he then supplied Fryatt to make it 3-0 on 57 minutes.

Forest's club-record signing Assombalonga finished off the rout 10 minutes later when he reacted quickest to a goalmouth scramble to tap in.

Simon Cox, who left the Reds to return to Berkshire earlier this summer, nearly reduced the deficit towards the end of the game, but Karl Darlow made an excellent stop to deny the striker as Forest recorded a triumph which takes them to the top of the table.
