Stuart Pearce hopes for more time at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce hopes that he will be given the opportunity to turn the club's fortunes around.

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has urged the board to give him more time to improve the club's fortunes.

The Reds have now won just two of their last 20 games following Saturday's 2-0 home reversal to Sheffield Wednesday.

Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi is said to be fully supportive of Pearce's management of the club, and Pearce hopes that he is given the opportunity to prove that he is the right man for the job.

"If you are asking me if any manager would be disappointed if they were not given time to finish a job or do a job; if you ask me if I think I will be successful in the long run – I'd say yes I will be to both. However long that takes me," Pearce told the Nottingham Post.

"If you ask me whether I am very disappointed at this moment in time – yes I am. I am really disappointed for our fans. I am really disappointed with the level of performance and with the results. They are killing us. They are hurting me.

"All eyes are on me. Whether it is from the media, from the boardroom or from the players – all eyes are on me. I have to be the one who is rock solid. It has to start with me. It has to start from every manager and I will not be buckling, no matter what happens. The players have to take strength from me."

Forest travel to East Midlands rivals Derby County on Saturday.
