South Korea's Chung Mong-joon: 'I want to replace FIFA president Sepp Blatter'

South Korea's Chung Mong-joon announces that he wants to replace Sepp Blatter as FIFA president in February's election.

Former FIFA vice-president Chung Mong-joon has announced that he wants to replace Sepp Blatter.

The South Korean, who is a major shareholder of Hyundai, has vowed to "change" the way the world governing body is run if he is elected the new FIFA president.

UEFA president Michel Platini confirmed on Wednesday that he will stand for the FIFA presidency ahead of the February 26 election, but Chung is not convinced by the Frenchman.

"If I get elected, my job is not to enjoy the luxury of the office, my job is to change it," Chung told the BBC's World Football programme.

"It will be very difficult for [Platini] to have any meaningful reforms. Mr Platini enjoys institutional support from the current structure of FIFA. Mr Platini is very much a product of the current system."

Candidates to replace Blatter, who will step down following allegations of widespread corruption at FIFA, have until October 26 to be nominated.
