Newport County have confirmed the appointment of Terry Butcher as the club's new manager on a two-year contract.
Jimmy Dack has been in charge in a caretaker role since Justin Edinburgh left the club to join Gillingham in February, but Newport have finally found a permanent successor in former England captain Butcher, who has been out of work since his Hibernian reign ended last summer.
"I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to work for a fantastic club like Newport," Butcher revealed in a statement.
"I have met a lot of great people at the club already and have seen the passionate fans for myself at recent games. I look forward to the new challenge and I'm looking forward to working together with everyone at a club."
Dack will be in charge for the final game of the season against Oxford United on Saturday.
