Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew looks to European signings

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew reveals that he is looking for new signings from the European market after being priced out of deals in England.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is looking to the European market for new signings after being priced out of deals in England.

English left-back Luke Shaw has joined Manchester United for £30m, while his former Southampton teammate Adam Lallana is expected to complete a move to Liverpool for a £25m fee.

Pardew believes that he will find better deals in the overseas market.

"The fees being paid for players such as Luke Shaw and, it seems, Adam Lallana, illustrate an important point that supporters need to understand," he told the Shields Gazette.

"Clubs like Newcastle get accused of not signing English players, but these are prices mid-table teams in the Premier League simply cannot afford, unlike Champions League clubs with their extra revenue.

"We recently inquired about an unproven player not in the side at one of our top clubs, and we were asked for £14m. He will not be joining."

Newcastle are reportedly keen to sign Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
