Newcastle United are willing to hold on until the winter transfer window to sign Charlie Austin, according to reports.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move back to the Premier League throughout the summer and despite reported interest from numerous clubs, it is believed that he will to be staying at QPR for the foreseeable future.
According to the Shields Gazette, Newcastle will renew their interest in January when Austin has six months remaining on his contract and is free to talk to interested clubs.
Magpies boss Steve McClaren said at the weekend that he didn't expect any more deals before the deadline, adding: "We are happy with what we have now."
Austin scored 18 goals in 35 appearances for QPR in the Premier League last season.
