Atlanta United ace Miguel Almiron is reportedly close to finalising a move to the Premier League with Newcastle United.
Magpies boss Rafael Benitez was forced to deny reports last week that his side had tabled a £15m offer for the Paraguay international.
The player's father confirmed on Tuesday that a move to English football was imminent, however, and Newcastle were considered the frontrunners to land the versatile attacker's signature.
According to respected South American journalist Bruno Pont, talks have now concluded between the two parties and a transfer could be finalised by the end of Wednesday.
Almiron scored 13 goals and set up 11 more for Atlanta during the 2019 Major League Soccer season, which culminated in a 2-0 win over Portland Timbers in the MLS Cup final last weekend.
