Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote calls on the team to end their recent run of four consecutive defeats ahead of Monday's clash with Wigan.

Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has called on the team to put an end to their 'unacceptable' losing streak ahead of Monday's clash with Wigan Athletic.

The Magpies go into the game at St James' Park just two points above the relegation zone following four defeats in a row.

"Now is the time to start winning again," Tiote told the club's official website. "We have lost four games in the league and that is not acceptable for a team like Newcastle.

"On Monday we have to go out there and win the game - for the team and for the fans as well."

Newcastle's last win in the league came on October 28 when they beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1.
