Cheick Tiote hopeful of European qualification for Newcastle United

Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote is confident that the team can qualify for Europe this season.

Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has claimed that the team has a good chance of qualifying for Europe this season.

The Magpies are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of a Europa League spot.

However, Tiote is confident that Newcastle can now go on a strong run of form following last weekend's 3-1 win at West Ham United.

"We are happy because last year it was not the same. Now we can try to win every game. If we keep trying that we can gain a Europa League place or even a Champions League place," he told the Evening Chronicle.

"We had lost four games, but winning against West Ham was massive to win the game. Everybody is focused. We are doing the right things again. Everybody is happy."

Newcastle continue their league campaign on Tuesday when they face Norwich City at Carrow Road.
