Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he is "open minded" about the appointment of Joe Kinnear as director of football at St James' Park.
The 66-year-old, who signed a three-year contract at the club, will have the final say on transfers, which was met with controversy from a large number of supporters.
"I've had good experiences and bad experiences of it," Pardew told The Chronicle. "I'm very open minded to Joe's position. I will take it as I see it.
"People who work with me will know that I am my own man. I will manage this football club and manage this team to the best of my ability. On the back of last year I am even more motivated to do well this year."
Kinnear is currently on a pre-arranged holiday in Italy.
