Jak Alnwick has admitted that he was "a little bit nervous" to be facing Chelsea during his first-team debut for Newcastle United this afternoon.
The club's third-choice goalkeeper came off the bench at half time after Rob Elliott picked up an injury in the first half, and helped the Magpies hold on for a 2-1 win despite playing the final 10 minutes a man short.
The 21-year-old told BT Sport: "I was a little bit nervous but it was slightly easier coming on at half time because I didn't have time to think about it too much.
"It was a great experience for me and I'm just happy to get the victory. Everyone backed me and showed me great support, the gaffer, the backroom staff, everyone."
Regular number one keeper Tim Krul is out until the New Year with an ankle injury.
