Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri banned for two Coppa Italia matches

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri is handed a two-game Coppa Italia ban for "highly offensive" comments towards Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini.

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has been banned for two Coppa Italia matches following his clash with Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini on the touchline during their quarter-final meeting on Tuesday night.

Mancini claimed that Sarri had shouted homophobic slurs at him during a heated exchange between the two.

The Italian FA has subsequently suspended the Napoli boss for two Coppa Italia matches, which will begin next season, in addition to fining him £15,000.

However, the punishment was imposed for "highly offensive" comments made, rather than homophobia, for which the sanctions would likely have been more severe.

Inter Milan went on to win the match 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals, although Mancini was sent off during the game and was also handed a £4,000 fine as a result.
