Karl Robinson has confessed that his MK Dons players have been left feeling "embarrassed" following their heavy defeat against Southampton.
The Championship outfit slipped to a 6-0 reverse on Wednesday night to see their League Cup campaign come to an end at the third-round stage.
With the fixtures continuing to come thick and fast, Robinson has now called on his players to learn from the loss in order to bounce back against Derby County at the weekend.
"It was a tremendous learning curve for me and my players in offensive and defensive play that we will take forward into our campaign," he is quoted as saying by One MK.
"I don't think Houdini could have got us a result tonight - you have to remain positive, my response is how I've told them to feel.
"They are embarrassed and a little upset but boxers get punched and they have to get up again and that is no different for us. We get up and go again."
The Dons have now lost each of their last five fixtures in all competitions.
